What is Forest Bathing?Forest Bathing, also known as Shinrin-yoku, is a practice that originated in Japan. It involves immersing oneself in nature, particularly in forests, and mindfully engaging with the surroundings. The concept emphasizes the therapeutic benefits of spending time in nature on both physical and mental well-being.
During a Forest Bathing session, participants are encouraged to slow down their pace and engage their senses, allowing them to connect with the natural environment. The practice encourages deep breaths, mindful walking, and observation of the sights, sounds, and scents of the forest. This intentional experience of nature is believed to have a calming and rejuvenating effect, reducing stress, improving mood, boosting immune function, and enhancing overall vitality. Forest Bathing doesn't require any specific fitness level or strenuous activities but rather focuses on the healing effects of being present in nature. |
